Scope

Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery was constructed in mid 1950s. The first major refurbishment took place in mid 1970s, to expand the capacities of old crude distillation units. In mid 1970s, the refinery was expanded by constructing a large gas plant. The refinery was again expanded in the mid-1980s (Refinery Modernization Project) and was further upgraded in late 1980s (Further Up gradation Project). Later KNPC decided to implement “Modernization of Obsolete Instrumentation Project” in two of its major areas out of four i.e. in Old Refinery and offsite area & Refinery Modernization Project (RMP) area.
Almeer Technical Services Company, as an EPC, was awarded by Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) for its Modernization of Obsolete Instrumentation Project Phase – 1, (MOIP-1) at Mina Al-Ahmadi Refinery. The scope of work included site survey, basic design, detailed engineering, procurement, installation at site, pre-commissioning and commissioning of the new instrument system, related Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and HVAC systems. In addition, modification of existing non-obsolete system and integration of the same with the new system, hardware and software configuration, field installation works related to new instruments, removal of the obsolete instrument system, configuration, calibration, testing and commissioning of process control, project management and training personnel, etc.
Almeer executed the MOIP – 1 project in thirteen (13) areas of the Refinery in such a way that it could be proficiently accepted in four categories, explicitly in the field of Instrumentation, Electrical, Civil, HVAC and Mechanical.
